Among other things, Brussels is well known for its excellent beers, crunchy fries and delicious chocolates. Laure, a french expat from Paris and currently living in Cohabs Ma Campagne, decided to share with you her selection of the 5 best bars in Brussels. Remember to drink in moderation.
1. The Poechenellekelder
Typical and cosy, situated right next to the Manneken-Pis, with beers from Brasserie de la Senne, Trappists and other Belgian beers, this bar is for me one of the best if you want to spend a good time with friends. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed, the waiters are all very kind, helpful and smiling. They know their beer menu perfectly and advise very well. Eclectic decoration inside and typical outside, I recommend this bar for beer lovers or those who wants to become one.

2. Chez Franz
In Brussels, afterwork drinks are very trendy. We start with a Pils, a glass of wine, a cocktail or a lemonade. We go on with a second one, then a third and so on with a little snack to complete the whole evening and finish well alcoholised by the end of the night. Chez Franz is the perfect place for all people who worships this afterwork tradition. This little authentic bistro offers a warm and cosy atmosphere, as well as delicious burgers at low prices, amazing croque-monsieurs and the possibility to enjoy Jazz concerts every Sunday. In summer, we completely fall for its sunny terrace!

3. Moeder Lambik
Blonde, white, amber or lambic? Sweet, bitter or sour? So many beer choices to choose from! This is one place you absolutely need to try if you are a beer lover and if you want to try more specific and original beers than the traditional Pils: The Moeder Lambic. Situated in Saint-Gilles and in the city center, these bars offer a huge selection of beers, both in the bottle and under pressure and the possibility to nibble with charcuterie & cheese boards, it is very difficult not to find happiness. Smiling and helpful waiters (looking like rock starts) are always available to give good advice on their products. We go to the Moeder as we go to Mars, to discover something extraordinary!

4. La Maison du Peuple
La Maison du Peuple is the bar of the forecourt of Saint-Gilles which everyone is talking about and where everyone goes. Ambiances change a lot over the hours: a family atmosphere in the mornings, midday and afternoon, more festive at night and on weekends. This bar is both pleasant in summer thanks to its terrace and in winter with a spacious and comfortable interior. There are cocktails, beers, wine and a great choice of tapas, excellent and not expensive. Everything is done to make you feel good.
